St. Paul's and Covent Garden

So I still feel pretty foreign here but I guess that is the idea behind study abroad. Today we woke up and went to the museum of London which I have to say was kind of lame because everything past the medieval period was under renovation so there were only three rooms even open. Lame right? So good tihng a cool cathedral is around the corner and we went there next. St. Paul's is pretty vast and gorgeous. It is the place Princess Diana got married and so that means I am that much closer to spotting one of her sons. Anyways, my favorite part about the cathedral was the gold mosaics that decorated the cielings. i have seen some cool mosaics but these really glittered. Also you can go up in the dome of the cathedral to this place called the whispering gallery. Apparently a person can whisper from one side and can be heard loud and clear on the other side of the dome '32 metres' away. Everyone in our group was whispering into this wall and looked like fools but I think there was just too much noise in general for the whispering to actually be heard. So after a long tour there we had the afternoon free which sounded lke a good opportunity to explore. I am realyl glad that I have been here with the Dee's already because even though it takes away some of the excitement of seeing things for the first time I feel like I know my way around here pretty well. The tube is pretty awesome. I mean it might take longer to get around sometimes but compared to the NYC subway system it is pretty clean. There are still crazies on it though. Oh... also I saw a homeless person for the first time last night and then another one today by St. Paul's. For some reason there are very few here.

I miss home a lot. I have said this a billion times already, I know, but I am still adjusting to my new environment and it's now that I am starting to realize how awesome my apartment was and how much I took Provo for granted. Even though this is an awesome experience I don't see myself being one of those people who just wants to see the world because most of the things I hold dear in my life are so close to home or are at home. The people in my group seem pretty cool though. I just hope I can find some people that my personality meshes with. So far there are a lot of awesome people in my group.

So now that I am off that side tangent I'll go back to explaining about my day. We next went to Covent Garden. I bought a ring that I really liked. I am trying not to go into too many clothing stores because I don't want to spend a lot of money but I think I will make a list of things that I could use and that are practical and then head into the shops a bit more. Covent Garden was fun but it was getting dark (it gets dark here so early! Like at 4:15!) and we were all tired from walking around all day so we went back the center, had dinner, a group meeting and then started our readings because classes start tomorrow. I hope that I feel more comfortable here as the days go by. But so far I feel like I am learning a lot about how to deal with others and conquer some of my tendencies to stay within my comfort zone! So... here come todays photos to post!
The first photo is me eating chuches which I found at Covent Garden. They were cold and therefore hard. Hence the face. Next is Christina and I in front of the Cathedral and then This is a view of the cathedral from the back. The place was too big to get it all in one shot. If you wanna know what the whole thing looks like, well google it I guess!
